Dear Colleagues,
It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of Frank Phillips yesterday after a long battle with leukaemia. Frank was a legend of Townsville and Country cricket as a solid opening bat and skilful wicket-keeper who was probably kept out of the QLD Sheffield Shield Team by Lew Cooper. Quite a few of our veteran players, including myself, played with and against Frank in our younger days in Townsville.

Frank played a number of times for QVC Over 70s teams, including the first National O70s Carnival at the Sunshine Coast in 2013 and the Nationals the following year in Melbourne. He also participated in the first Over 70s international tour to England around this time.

He had a great love of the game and was well respected as a player, an administrator and leader. He will be greatly missed! Our condolences and thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.

Keith Christiansen
